Years that are lived well…

I went to a funeral last friday of a friend, a guy i shared a house with when i first came here. I mentioned him in another post two weeks ago. The service was in their church in the wild, and very cold Yorkshire hills and we all, his friends and family, journeyed there from all over to honour and rejoice his life.

The words that stayed with me throughout the service were spoken in a prayer….’we are here to celebrate Rich, his life, of 40 years lived well’   There was never a truer statement of Rich. He was an active, happy, genuine and brave. He pursued his dreams with courage. He lived a full life.

I have been thinking over the past two days..’do i live well?’ Do i make the most of this life, this short amount of time. Do i value what matters most or do i place to much value on that which does not. Am i chasing my dreams or are they dormant, forgotten at the bottom of the sock drawer. Will i be able to look back at my life and say the same words?

I hope so.

One of my minor aims this year was to start to get some of our family images printed. I take thousands of photos and, as is the curse of the digital age, they sit, unseen on my computer hard drive and my goal was to change that and get some beautiful art work to hang in our house. I was inspired further to do this when I saw the order of service for Rich. He was a photographer of the great ‘film’ age and his beautiful images have been hung in galleries and shows in London, winning awards and moreover being actually SEEN and enjoyed by others.

So with that in mind, this week I am running a giveaway. I was approached recently by Hello Canvas and asked to review one of their products. They also agreed to donate a gift certificate for a 20×28 print to canvas. Just follow the instructions on the rafflecopter  app below.

Sorry once again to hear about your friend.

I know exactly what you mean about photos not being printed – my computer is so full of pictures I can’t even keep on top of them being organised.

I had a huge canvas printed of me and my husband and it’s in our bedroom and I love it (despite it having me in).

Thanks for Co-Hosting again – have a good week x

The death of a loved one can often make you appreciate the life you have, some small positive coming out of something so tragic. I hope you get some of those thousands of photos into frames! Xx

It is definitely a good idea to get those dreams out of the sock drawer!

I guess it’s inevitable that we reflect in that way at times like that but absolutely agree many of us would be better off living our lives and making the most of them rather than worrying if we have enough ‘stuff’

There is much to be said about following our dreams. We only get one life and we should lve it to the full. x

So sad to witness someone cut off in their prime. Very sobering to go to a funeral and question the way you are living your life. I’ve always got many photos that I am planning o do things with….thanks for the reminder.
