We have a small town garden, we live in the middle of a large city and don’t have the 500,000 you need to buy a house with a field size patch of grass behind our house so we have what we have..which is enough i might add…i aint moanin’
The OH and I are not exactly blessed with a love of gardening…neither of us naturally gravitate to tinkering with plants and flowers and there is often a little grave yard of potted plants along our windowsills and dotted around the garden. In fact during the winter we largely ignore the garden and lets face it the winter has gone on a LONG time this year.
This year the garden has been made even more barren by the loss of our adopted pink blossom tree which you can read about here. I still miss it, which is silly really but it has made me really nostaligic whenever i see a lovely cherry blossom in bloom.
Last week we had some sun, it suddenly started to feel like spring, heck i even went outside the house without socks on! *gasp* We spend more time outside when its warmer and so i start to notice our poor neglected garden. Which to be honest wasn’t looking as bad as i thought. It amazing what will just grow regardless. It would seem, rather happily, that despite our best efforts, nature still gets her best frock on even when the dress makers would rather be doing something else instead….bravo nature!
It was nice seeing the sun for a while. Feeling inspired to do more with our garden. Of course its rained and been cold for the past nearly a week so we are a bit on the back foot!! ๐
It was a taking some shade under the tree kind of day for the little sub-woofer.
This week continuing on the gardening theme my giveaway is a book for those of you who are green fingered…its a book by Gardener’s world Toby Buckland called Flowers.
all you have to do is fill in the rafflcopter as per and away you go. The winner of the LEGO dictionary was Sally Poole. PLease get in touch to claim your prize!

Thanks for co-hosting with me.
Best of luck with the #BiBs x

My favourite thing is my back garden is private, which is lovely on a hot summers day to sit outside & read a book, bliss.
My favourite thing about my garden are the flower borders.
My favourite thing about the garden is looking at all the lovely colours and sitting and relaxing
love just pottering in the garden- listening to the birds singing and seeing all the bees and butterflies visiting the flowers
I am currently re-lanscaping most of the garden so it is rather barren and messy at the moment, but I still have some fruit growing and picking my own raspberries in the summer is a joy.
Fresh air and privacy.
The smell of flowers on the gentle summer breeze.
Relaxing, and enjoying the sound of water in the koi pool, & the blossom on the trees.
Looks like a great book
The inside being brought out.
the fact that its mine and I can decorate it how I want. We have just bought our new house! ๐
The patio – it’s such a peaceful place to sit and soak up the sun. (if we ever get any this year, that is!)
my vegetable patch is the best thing about my garden, we grow so many lovely goodies each year.
Cant beat picking my own fresh strawberries.
The peace and quiet apart from the birds singing and the bees buzzing
Love the spring too ! It’s been far too long coming. I find it amazing how nature seems to just do it’s thing without too much coaxing.

We have a very small garden but it’s lovely to have somewhere to go when the sun finally deigns to shine! I’ve got mint that’s just starting to grow again, lovely in a cup of tea. And yes, some plants do manage to grow and embellish that small space in spite of our neglecting them!
Gorgeous pictures. xx

The smell of grass.
just having a space of our own now we have moved is invaluable! a lawn for my 2 boys to play on & a little veg patch for me ๐

Picking my own fruit
Growing vegetables
Growing all my own vegetables!
My fruit trees
the smell of all my colourful flowers ๐
I love the archway that leads to my secret garden (aka the tiny area where my greenhouse, compost pile and apple tree live!)
A large planter that hubbie built. I’d seen a picture of one I liked the look of, so he built it and my parents helped us fill it with suitable plants. I love it!
relaxing while enjoying the greenery
Its a great place to relax and unwind.
I love the peace and quiet, and that loads of wildlife use my garden too
The size, I love the different areas and uses my garden gives me.
I love my garden bench, where i can sit under the trees & listen to the birds & watch them feed on my neighbours feeding station. My garden is now easily maintainable & i love the mixture of shrubs, tall & small flowers & ferns & the colours that they bring.
I love watching the kids play – they love being outside.
All the different coloured plants my partner has planted, i adore the smells
I LOVE ITS SIZE BUT IT NEEDS A LOT OF WORK TO MAKE IT PRETTY.
Sitting outside, eating with my boys, and thinking back to what it looked like when we bought the house last year…. it was a hoarder’s paradise, with tvs in the greenhouses! Now it’s becoming my little haven ๐
I like maintaining & growing the hedgerows i planted back in 2008.
it’s perfect on a lovely summers day just to sit outside and relax and unwind
The willow tree at the bottom of my garden is favourite thing.
the trampoline! very handy to play.
We moved to a house with our first garden a year ago. I love growing flowers and vegetables. I love sitting outside with a cup of coffee. But most of all I love having outside space that I can call my own.
Being able to sit outside under the cherry blossom tree
Just pottering around and watching my son be free!
Its just amazing just sitting relaxing in our garden, you can hear the birds singing, the sheep and cows in the fields. The smell of the countryside is fantastic, freshly cut grass, slight hint of the smell of pasties as Ginsters is just up the road, just love to take it all in on my day off work.
i love the veggie area at the bottom of my garden where me and my children can grow fruit and vegetables. we love watchig things grow and then picking and eating them . hopefully if the weather improves we will eat outside.
The patio and chairs
I like the calm and peacefulness of my garden/beach, also the nature and wildlife there
My favourite thing is that our garden is secluded and not overlooked. It’s not particularly big but I love being able to sit out there or let the girls play out there and know it’s safe and no-one is watching.
the greenery and space
The chance to grow my own fruit and veg
Being able to relax and enjoy the occasional good weather.
Just relaxing in the sun
Being able to sit and relax
