A new year tradition…with the Country kids

Ever since having kids New Year has always taken on a bit of a different aspect. The days of partying hard for the 31st are well and truly gone..also combined with the fact that one of our daughters has her birthday on the 31st. Auld lang syne has long since been replaced by a bit of an early night and sometimes a kids celebration with a ‘fake’ midnight 😉 (that worked before we had one who could tell the time!)

So our family tradition on new year is to get out and go for a walk and thankfully we have some good friends that share that desire. So this year was no excuse and amazingly it didn’t actually rain! It was very very windy and muddy though! Home for toad in the hole and kids settling in for a movie. A good day and start to the new year.

Just twenty minutes of time..country kids..

Lately getting out and about has been a bit of a challenge. Life is just so busy at the moment. But even in a city like this, just 20 minutes and we can burn off a bit of steam and see some gorgeous light hitting these autumnal scenes. That is exactly what this was. An quick stop off at the woods with the dog, a grumpy toddler and a bit of a poorly 8 year old. 20 minutes later we had glowing cheeks, the dog had a run, we marvelled at some frosty leaves and helped someone find their runaway dog!
Always makes me feel better getting out and about…

Alderley Edge – Country kids..

That should read POSH country kids i think. We haven’t been to Alderley Edge before, despite it being fairly near where we live but we ventured to the national trust property there and discovered on the way there the largest collection of cars individually worth more than our house! Holy high insurance premiums batman!

Anyway despite trying to spot football players, apparently a lot of them live there. I would have a clue tbh….they could walk right up to me and id not have the foggiest idea…

BUT! The walks around Alderley Edge were lovely and autumnal but VERY busy..so many people…i guess sunny day at the weekend and everyone is savouring it, can’t say i blame them.

Of course i took my camera..and i used my macro lens which presented a little bit of a problem for those ‘panoramic’ landscape shots…but hey ho..i think the light was lovely at times…

oh and apologies for the “movember’ I have absolutely nothing to do with that 😉

a long walk in the sand….

We took a trip recently to Hilbury island. Its an Island off the coast of the wirral that at certain times of the day the tide goes out far enough to walk to.

My OH has been keen to walk all the way out to the main island but we have never made it. There are a succession of points you have to pass first, middle eye..

then we walked to middle eye…it was quite a way and we had to navigate a lot of wet sand and rock..

we made it to middle eye and discovered a little beach (within a beach) and some cool caves and rocks…as it was getting late we decided that going on to the island itself wasn’t a great idea. But the kids didn’t seem to mind!!
