just had to be done #satcap

Some of the kids and OH ran a 5k race for charity last weel. Ill share some more about it later but this particularly made me laugh while we were waiting for the runners of our family to return. A great caption opportunity? I think so…

A moment of summer remembered #countrykids

Last week we were lucky.

Sunshine was here, warmth and a little left over fragrance of summer danced around our nostrils. We headed out, it has to be done. I can’t stay in, cooped up and away from this wonderful blue sky. We didnt venture that far, just to a local little park, with some bossy swans and over-familiar ducks but never-the-less. It felt a little like summer. Of course my daughter is always dressed for summer. I have no idea why, she won’t wear anything else, I have no energy to fight it.

Today she was right! It was warm. Warm enough to see t shirts and skirts, picnic blankets and fishermen lazing in the sun.

We walked and chatted. Sat down a while and watched the world go by and then discovered some flowers (for as long as we could before some of them were beheaded!) and played a little on the swings.

I like it when summer comes back for a visit.

Finding a new flow #motivationalmonday #whatsthestory #magicmoments

I was flicking through some images this evening and i came across this one which i took on one summery afternoon before the school run in the garden and i realised how different the afternoons are around here, not just because of the weather although that is a massive contributing factor. But i moan far too much about the weather so i wont go on…

But because not having my second youngest around in the afternoon is a little strange and taking me and the little one a bit of time to find a new way of doing the lunch, pre-school time and also how to do the ‘lets not fall asleep on the way to school in the buggy and be a nightmare going to bed in the evening’ thing 😉

and i realised that i miss her a bit. That sounds really bad, like im surprised that i do, which isnt the case at all.

But i am not a mum who laments when my kids move onto new adventures. Yes there is an element of sadness when you put the baby cot away for the last time, or you realise that the ‘baby aisle’ in the supermarket really holds nothing for you anymore save maybe the trusty packet of wipes.  There is most assuredly a time for fond memories and that whistfull and slightly rose coloured jaunt down the memory lane of new babies and pre-school years when your consciousness fools you and plays a heart-stirring soundtrack over your parenting past and tells you that it was ‘all so wonderful back then’ 😉

But I embrace the future, new adventures, new challenges, new lessons to learn and so im always cheering them on as they head off into new things.

With this little girl, she was so totally ready for school that she didnt need the cheerleader waving madly behind her telling her she was going to be great.

She just got on. did it. Embraced it.

thats my girl 🙂

(not so) #silentsunday #socialpix #365 #whatsthestory

Now I know words are now way never allowed in silent sunday..but i couldn’t actually post this picture without a bit of an explanation (hence its my whats the story as well!)  and also some credit because as much as i would like to say this image was all my own idea. The image is mine, I shot it in a recent baby shoot i had with a really fabulous couple who were up for trying something a little bit different to what i would normally do but i had seen the idea of this sort of shot from the inspiration of, Tracy Willis, who is an incredible baby photographer.  I thought wow and i have to have a go at that!!

I dont often post images from my photography work here on this blog (which i think i have mentioned before) but this image is more of a work in progess for me and part of my journey with my baby photography. The website i use for my clients is a little different and less of a blog and ongoing story if you like than this blog. So..i thought this was the right place for it. Its part of my story and this blog is exactly that!!

I have been playing with this image all week so it is my image of the week. 🙂

Oh and just to add as a disclaimer…even though i am using this as a silent sunday image i am not (and rarely do) link up to the silent sunday linky as this doesn’t follow the hosts rules about no words and Im not a rule breaker…haha! not all the time anyway 😉
